So this week has been super great! my companions name is Elder Lambert, and he is pretty cool we're super different but we get along really well! for instance he was a ballet dancer and an actor so he was into all the drama stuff and Im more into the sports and that kinda thing. But it hasn't really been a problem we are both really easy going and just kinda roll with it. His aunt is the Famous Mrs. Lambert who teaches at Lehi high school so thats kinda a fun little fact. The food here is like a glorified cafeteria, not to good but not to bad. We eat at 4:30 for dinner... so i starve at night because I'm so used to eating later at like 6:30. Hopefully i get used to it!
Fast Sunday was absolutely brutal. I can honestly say I've never in my life gone without food or water for 24 straight hours, I could feel my stomach weeping;) but when we finally did eat we had Chicken cordon blue, not my most favorite meal but it was the only thing they had available except for salad and fruit, and that's just not really filling or even kinda appetizing after that. But they had ice cream!! so i can say with a surety that the church really is true. Then after dinner we had a devotional by the Provo temple president and his wife, the wife was really good! then we watched a talk by Elder Bednar called "The Character of Christ" id invite you all to go watch it but its kinda long so I guess you can just watch some of it. It basically talks about turning away from the natural man and doing what Christ would do in every situation. It was super powerful.
Seeing Parker was way cool! we are together all the time, he has a picture of us so I'm sure you'll get one but ill take one next week, we work out together every morning. We also eat together quite a bit and see each other all the time! I also see Elder Smith and Elder Sabin so that's pretty cool.
Chinese class is super tiring, we have almost 8 hours of it with lunch and dinner breaks. At night i keep myself up worrying about the tones on a word. I didn't even worry about it this much when i had a test in Chinese class the next morning. So I think the whole immersion thing must be working. Other than that i love the time i have to read my scriptures, during personal study I've started the book of Mormon over and am going to see how far i get by the end. I've already completed 1st Nephi.
The temple walk was really fun! We got to finally escape, ok not escape, but we got a different view for a little bit which was very nice. Thats also another time I got to spend a little time with Elder Jackson.
Things are going great! I love hearing from you all and getting updates on the outside world.
Love-
Elder Jackson
PS he's going to Brisbane
